On the occasion of “Contemporary Art Day”, the annual event promoted by the MAECI with AMACI (the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums), the exhibition “Developments in the Contemporary” opened on Thursday 9 October 2025 at 5:00 pm, featuring works created by Enzo Cacciola and Vincenzo Mascia during their artist residencies.

The Enzo Cacciola / Vincenzo Mascia exhibition is part of the project “Developments in the Contemporary for the Italian Embassy and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Beijing”, which promotes contemporary Italian art in China through an artist residency programme. The programme hosts invited artists in Beijing to create site-specific works in contact with the Chinese cultural fabric, which are then displayed both at the Italian Embassy in Beijing and in dedicated exhibitions organised and promoted by the Italy China Council Foundation Academy at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Beijing.

This first stage of the project presents to the Chinese public, for the first time, the works created specifically in Beijing by Enzo Cacciola, master of the historical Analytical Art movement, and Vincenzo Mascia, exponent of the international Madí movement, whose work explores the outcomes of programmed art with implications for sculptural design.

The residency programme and the exhibition are organised and promoted by the Italian Embassy in Beijing, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Beijing and the Italy China Council Foundation Academy at Raffles City Beijing, based on a project conceived and directed by Nuova Artemarea in collaboration with the MuPa – Museo del Parco di Portofino.
