On Thursday 9 April 2026 the exhibition “Montage: from dialectics to dynamics – Architecture, Film, Photography, Poetry, Painting, Theater, Design, Music and Beyond” opened in Hangzhou at the China Academy of Art. The exhibition was promoted by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Russian Academy of Arts and the Zhejiang Provincial Film Bureau, and organised by the China Academy of Art.

The exhibition project brought together around 350 works from seven countries (China, Russia, the United States, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands), involving 33 international academic institutions. The exhibition explored the role of montage as a central language of modern visual culture, bringing into dialogue disciplines such as cinema, architecture, photography, painting, theatre, design and music.

Within this major international project, MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome took part with loans devoted to the visions of Superstudio and Aldo Rossi, contributing to a significant Italian section within the exhibition and to the broader cultural dialogue between museum and academic institutions.

The Italy-China cultural mediation of the project was handled by the Associazione Nuova Artemarea, which coordinated the MAXXI loans and contributed to the Italian participation in the exhibition, fostering exchange and collaboration between the institutions involved.
