CENTRE FOR CULTURAL PROJECT DEVELOPMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

We bring ideas, cultures and institutions into dialogue.

Who We Are

Nuova Artemarea ETS is a non-profit organisation established as an Italian Third Sector Entity (Ente del Terzo Settore – ETS) and officially registered in the National Register of Third Sector Entities (RUNTS) under Legislative Decree No. 117/2017. It operates as an independent centre for cultural project development for international cooperation, conceiving, developing and delivering programmes based on art historical research, comparative approaches across cultures and cultural diplomacy.

The Association regards culture as a privileged instrument for dialogue between institutions, academic communities and society, fostering long-term international relationships through knowledge, research, and the promotion of both historical heritage and contemporary culture.

A defining element of Nuova Artemarea's methodology is comparative research applied to international cultural cooperation. Its projects bring together artistic traditions, historical processes, ideas, languages and cultural contexts, identifying connections, mutual influences and new interpretative perspectives as the basis for shared programmes of research, cultural diplomacy and institutional cooperation.

Building on this approach, Nuova Artemarea conceives, develops and delivers exhibitions, publications, editorial projects, conferences, residency programmes and cultural initiatives, managing every stage of their development, from research and concept design to curatorial planning, institutional partnerships, cultural negotiation and implementation.

Exhibitions represent the most visible expression of this work, yet they are the outcome of a broader process integrating research, cultural project development, cultural diplomacy, international networking and collaboration among museums, universities, foundations, cultural institutions, public authorities, diplomatic networks and governments.

Particular attention is devoted to the dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary culture. Through artistic commissions, residency programmes, publications and interdisciplinary projects, Nuova Artemarea promotes the encounter between historical research and contemporary artistic practice, considering the latter as a powerful instrument for knowledge, dialogue and international cooperation.

Nuova Artemarea promotes cultural cooperation as a process of mutual exchange between countries, encouraging the international circulation of artworks, ideas, research and artistic practices. Its programmes are not limited to promoting Italian culture abroad: they also foster knowledge in Italy of the cultural heritage, artistic experiences and research developed in other international contexts, contributing to the construction of a genuinely shared dialogue between cultures.

Alongside its exhibition programmes, Nuova Artemarea develops editorial and research projects dedicated to the international dissemination of art history and art criticism, promoting translations, publications and scholarly collaborations between institutions in different countries.

With operational offices in Italy and China, the Association develops cultural cooperation programmes on an international scale. Its activities, firmly established across Europe and Asia, provide the foundation for the progressive expansion of partnerships in other regions of the world.

Since its foundation in 2023, Nuova Artemarea has conceived and developed more than fifty national and international institutional programmes and projects in collaboration with museums, universities, foundations, cultural institutions and diplomatic networks, contributing to exhibitions, publications, research initiatives and long-term programmes of international cultural cooperation.

Our Method

Nuova Artemarea's work is grounded in the integration of art historical research, cultural project development, cultural diplomacy and international cooperation.

Every project begins with a process of comparative research aimed at bringing together ideas, artistic traditions, historical processes and diverse cultural contexts. Through partnerships involving museums, universities, foundations, cultural institutions, diplomatic networks and governments, this research is transformed into shared programmes that generate new knowledge, encourage dialogue among academic communities and make complex cultural content accessible to wider audiences.

Exhibitions, publications, conferences, residency programmes and editorial activities are the instruments through which this methodology takes shape. They are not an end in themselves, but rather the visible outcome of a broader process of research, dialogue and international cooperation.

Nuova Artemarea views culture as a meeting place between disciplines, institutions and society, convinced that shared knowledge provides one of the essential foundations for stable international relationships based on mutual respect, dialogue and collaboration.

The Association operates through a flexible organisational structure and an international network of scholars, curators, professionals and institutional partners, bringing together expertise in art history, curatorial practice, law, project management and technical operations to develop complex cultural programmes. This interdisciplinary model is one of the defining characteristics of Nuova Artemarea's working method.

The integration of these diverse competencies enables Nuova Artemarea to conceive, develop and deliver international cultural cooperation programmes of significant scholarly, organisational and institutional complexity.
